DAY 3 - Mindful awareness
Updated: Jun 8, 2021
Sometimes the changes we hope to see, happen when we do simple activities with consistency and a bit of hope.
Developing a closer relationship with her adult children was the goal of one of our coaching clients. She sensed that Enneagram Coaching could help her to be more mindful of her own actions and how they showed up in her interactions with others.

We worked together for three months, helping her to unravel the ways her personality strategies could be creating divisions in her relationships, and including practices to increase her awareness of the motivations of those she loved. In so doing, she was able to create a new kind of space in her heart where her children could feel welcomed to connect with her. She was able to celebrate several small wins as she continued to act out of a place of mindful awareness. It's so interesting that the actions we do out of love may not be received as love e.g. jumping in to help find solutions when someone is hurting, when they just want you to sit and listen. Until we become more aware of personality strategies and how they show up, we will hinder the growth we hope to see.
"Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering." Saint Augustine
The foundational work we have been doing so far brings to light some of the obstacles you might be experiencing when it comes to unlocking the power of your emotions. Mindsets that feel second nature to you, that could actually be obstacles to growth. As you continue to engage in this work do remember our ground rules.
To be Open to Exploring.
To be Kind to Yourself.
To Not Rush your Growth.
To Stay Engaged and Intentional.
Do take the time to complete the Self-Observation exercise from Day 2, and make the work more meaningful by reflecting on it with a partner or close friend.
Do look through the handout from Day 1, and select a practice to help you connect more deeply with your repressed center of intelligence.
You would be surprised how change can happen when we do simple things with consistency and a little bit of hope.
A JUDITH FAV
When I'm trying to destress at night I listen to this devotional app called Lectio 365. It brings awareness to any tension in my body, encourages deep breathing to help me release any stress from the day, challenges me to let go of any worries I'm carrying with me and changes my focus to the Scripture at hand.
